Gabriel Lester

Gabriel Lester is an inventor, visual artist, and filmmaker. His practice encompasses multiple disciplines, all motivated by curiosity and inventiveness. Since the mid-90s, Lester has focused on developing his own audiovisual vocabulary, aiming to help shape new languages. He writes, directs, edits, and shapes films, sculptures, installations, and exhibitions. Each year, Lester’s practice evolves into a different hybrid, emphasizing human existence and its experience. Lester proposes open- ended ways to relate to the world, how it is represented, and what mechanisms and components constitute our perception and understanding of it. Lester contributed to Performa 13 with his performance Super- Sargasso Sea (phantom play #1).
