London-based artist Peter Doig’s paintings exhibit a flirtatious interplay between the natural and the urban, the human and the concrete. He often works intuitively, spontaneously painting photographs he has taken or scenes he encounters. On the other hand, Peter doesn’t shy away from engaging in more conceptual approaches: his 2025 exhibition House of Music for Serpentine Galleries explores the communal role of music in society from various different angles, supplementing a series of paintings on the subject with selections from his personal vinyl collection played through a set of vintage analogue speakers, creating a playful space that explores the deliciously human social experience of engaging with music.
